Glastonbury and Mandela B-day concert

Here's a little TV news recap of both concerts even though the focus seems to be Amy Wino supposedly punching a fan.

When I see Amy Crackhouse singing with all of "those black children" behind her, for Mandela's 46664 concert no less, I am reminded of her infamous racist tune. Ugggh she disgusts me!

Here's some video of Jay-Z's performance at Glastonbury concert. (parental advisory) Note the dis to Noel Gallagher, one of the most vocal critics of Jay-Z's appearance, as Jay performs Wonderwall by Noel's band, Oasis. (he he he)

I get the dis, Jay-z, but please baby, let B sing, u stick to rappin! Peep the guitar on his neck -- You know when the harder rock flava kicked in, he made sure he took that guitar off LMAO. 99 problems but playin the guitar ain't one, at least not for this performance. (Neither is Noel Gallagher. It's reported that towards the end of his performance Jay-Z said to the audience "So I hear you guys didn't want me here tonight")

Bill Clinton says Obama needs to "kiss his a**"

According to rumor king illseed at allhiphop.com, Bill Clinton gaved Oprah Winfrey the cold shoulder at the Mandela dinner. Reportedly she went over to say hello and Bill acted as if he had nothing to say to her.

Now you could say that this is just a rumor, but then I read this article from the UK's Telegraph where Bill reportedly said Obama will have to "kiss his a** "to get his support. Talk about sore loser!

Why do you think Bill is so upset?

Nelson Mandela's B-day dinner!

Folk came out to rep for the freedom fighter and former South African President. Oprah Winfrey, Robert DeNiro, Denzel Washington, Will Smith, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Forest Whitaker among others came out to his 90th birthday dinner. UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown and former US President Bill Clinton were also on the guest list. Wanna see px? click here.

His dinner is part of a week long UK visit celebrating his 90th birthday. A whole week! Age ain't nothin but a number when it comes to partying huh?

Of course, Mandela "parties" with a purpose. At the fundraiser dinner for his AIDS awareness campaign, Mandela took the opportunity to break his silence on the political situation in Zimbabwe. He addressed the ‘tragic failure of leadership’ in Zimbabwe, following weeks of violence, which have guaranteed the re-election of President Robert Mugabe this week.

He also met with Queen Elizabeth. Tomorrow the birthday concert goes down! Annie Lennox, Leona Lewis, Amy Winehouse, Jamelia, Simple Minds and Eminem are among the many artist who are supposed to be performing.

South African artists will also represent. R&B star and multi-South African Music Awards winner Loyiso Bala, who will be singing a duet with UK's Jamelia. He is also an ambassador for Mandela's 46664 Aids charity.

Loyiso will be performing Stevie Wonder's song As at the concert.

So if you had to choose between attending the BET awards or the 46664 Mandela concert and dinner, which one would it be?

Jay-Z speaks in detail about Glastonbury Controversy

The Glastonbury festival goes down June 28. Many said Jay-z was the wrong choice to headline this traditionally rock-led festival. He will be the first rapper to top the bill on the Pyramid Stage for this legendary festival. There's been much haterade on the festival and Jay as a result. Some just resent that a Hip Hop artist is the headliner; others would have appreciated a UK artist rather than a US one, let alone a US RAPPER. Even Dizzee Rascal expressed some reservations about Jay-Z as headliner. Jay-Z hasn't said too much regarding the controversy until now....

Greek Hip Hop

Here is one of the first female MC's making an impact in the Greek Hip Hop scene. Her style is Low Bap, a sub-genre of the Greek hip hop music scene, that emerged in the mid-1990s as the sound of the prominent Greek hip hop group Active Member. According to Wikipedia, Low Bap is characterized by slower tempo and rapping than usual, often combined with lyrics of political content.

U feelin it or what? and can my Greek headz translate please?

Yung Buck vs 50 Cent

Now I usually don't give space to blog about all the beef casserole goin down in Hip Hip right now, but here is something real -- not a bunch of taunts via the media and mix tapes to make money, but an actual conversation between 50 and Young Buck.

Yeah it's all part of the beef between the two, but the convo gives some insight into the business...50 may have released this to embarrass Buck, but on the real it gives some insight and may even make u have some compassion for Buck -- the brotha is obviously strugglin to do what he feels is right and endeavoring to keep his head and money together, as well as mend the wounds between him and 50.

Flava disclaimer -- there's some cussin' Parental advisory recommended. lol

I always wondered why it seems everyone in G-Unit has to be a 50 cent cheerleader. Now I have a clue -- it seems 50 is like a "father" or a pimp-pastor to these dudes; he gives them guidance , "the truth", and money/opportunity and then they "owe" him thier lives and loyalty. Don't upset the God- father! I felt like I was listening to a convo between a pimp and a whore, not friends...("Please don't cut me off from the fam, I was just confused man...")

I wondered if Buck knew 50 was recording this personal coversation. (If not, he may be able to sue) That ain't friendship, it's just mad tacky and manipulative. 50 got some serious control issues.

And now with Buck's pride hurt (and obviously his pocket), it's war.
Buck responds and says the tape was a year old. Peep his response in full here. (parental advisory) It's a hot track if I do say so myself.

They both need to learn from Lil Wayne and his daddy, Birdman. Just kiss and make up...

Btw Lil Wayne has moved 1 million units of Carter III thus far, despite the leak. A Milli, A Milli, A Milli....

Here it is in all its glory!

So Ms. Winehouse & friends tell us how u truly feel about the people whose music you apparently pimp. Shame shame. Can we blame it on the crack or can we just say that what people do and say behind closed doors reveals their true colors? What do u think?

New Hip Hop Movie!

Peep this trailer for a new Greek Hip Hop documentary. It is Tiiiiiiiiight!
Even though it is primarily in Greek, I want to see it. They got a whole section on beatboxing. No need to understand Greek or English to appreciate that. I'm also lovin the cinematography. I'm going to have stop by a greek video store and see if I can cop this joint. This movie should make all Hip Hop headz from all over proud.

Don't sleep! Hip Hop history is so much more than the South Bronx, NWA, Biggie and 2pac (but ya'll knew that already). Holla!

Move over Simpsons. Peep this Latino Hip Hop show!

Check out this comedy show. It is a set of small figurines interviewing different artists, entertainers, spoofing different shows etc.. On this episode, they talked to the group Crooked Stilo. Even the camera angle is set up so that the artists look like they could be talking to the dolls. It's cute, effective, informative and even funny.

The show is out of California. Could u see it on regular MTV or BET? Why or why not?

The Hip Hop Kings of Russia

I came across this mini documentary on Hip Hop culture in Russia 2000. It amazes me how much of the traditional Hip Hop culture like graffiti lives just as much as the music and dance.

Before you take look, ask yourself what you think Hip Hop in Russia would be like. Then see how your image stacks up to those in the documentary.

On a whole other tip, I think the narrator's voice makes me feel like I am watching National Geographic or something...
